Dedication: Oh – my – God. Well, that was my reaction when I read Blue Yeti’s dedication. That, and racing off to get my parents at 12am, midnight (yes, I was that ‘chuffed’). So here it is, my thanks in kind, dedicated to Blue Yeti. Not the best specimen to thank you with, I know (I wrote this chapter ages ago, and after looking at it from every possible angle, I still don’t like it – too much waffling), but it needed to be said, to keep the ball rolling, so here ‘tis…..and it wouldn’t be here without you (no really, I’m serious). Your wonderfully insightful writing is inspiring, and what you feel you might lack in scholastic dedication, you make up on sheer instinct and emotional understanding. You can read people, and you understand the intricate connection between fantasy and reality – after all, what is fantasy but reality amplified? You understand that it’s not so much the characters themselves (which let’s face it, will never be perfect, no matter how hard we try – they’re constructs), but what they represent and demonstrate that are important, and it inspires me to new heights. Remember – only research, if it’s fun. This whole little ‘project’ of mine has been an elaborate excuse to read “Lonely Planet” guides, Celtic mythology, fairy tales, and the ‘Readers Digest’ World Atlas to my heart’s content, and not feel guilty. So go wild! Remember, we can only write from our own experience, and that which we feel engaged with, although (as your own story attests brilliantly), we all cannot help but engage with the world around us in its present climate, and attempt to come to grips with it. So thankyou – it’s been, and still is, a great adventure to write alongside you.
